Tonight I was invited to attend a secret church meeting by a close and trust-worthy friend.
I am not sure where they stand doctrinally, so I cannot endorse the movement just yet, but I thought the concept to be very relevant.
Here is what happened tonight.
I entered into the door of a local baptist church to find the lights dimmed. I was guided through the hallways with candles lite softly in brown paper bags for ambience's sake. Scattered methodically around the sanctuary, also gave it the "secret effect" the church was looking for. After sitting, I noticed on the screen, facts about Somalia, in which I was invited to begin praying by myself or with others for the saints and the persecuted church. We then broke out into a worship set of about 5 songs. After worship, the Pastor of the church gave a small intro, and began teaching from a very thick outline. The message was the CROSS. The cruciality, relevancy and need for the Cross. I thought it to be a very effective time of worship and study. I could not stay for the entire 6 hours, although I would have loved to continue if I had been more prepared to do so. There is my take.
Is there anyone out there with a different experience?
Here is a promo for the next meeting on "spiritual warfare".
